| Target Overview | Cholera toxin is a multifunctional protein made up of two subunits, subunit A and subunit B. By acting as a classical A-B type toxin, cholera toxin leads to ADP-ribosylation of G protein, and constitutive activation of AC, thereby giving rise to increased levels of cyclic AMP within the host cell. It is capable of influencing the immune system in many ways. It not only has remarkable adjuvant properties, but also acts as an anti-inflammatory agent, by modulating specific signal transduction pathways. |
