Target Information

Target Name Fluorescein labelled proteins
Alternative Names FITC; fluorescyl; fluoresceine; FL
Target Overview Fluorescein is an organic compound dye or fluorophore, which is commonly used in microscopy, dye laser as a gain medium, forensic and serological detection of potential bloodstains and dye tracing. It is a dark orange / red powder, slightly soluble in water and alcohol. It is widely used as a fluorescent tracer in immunofluorescence technology. Since it is relatively easy to bind to protein, and generally does not destroy the biological activity of the labeled protein, FITC is commonly used to label antibodies, haptens, and to separate and labelled cells.
