| Target Overview | Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) is an arthropod-borne virus globally distributed to the tropical areas. It is transmitted by by two types of mosquitos: Aedes albopictus and Aedes aegypti, which is the cause of the Chikungunya infection. Typical symptoms may include headache, muscle pain, joint swelling, and a rash. Currently, no vaccine and specific treatment is available, and the most most effective means to prevent Chikungunya infection are protection against contact with the disease-carrying mosquitoes and controlling mosquito populations by limiting their habitat. |
